Paste the table
Paste the price list from your spreadsheet, a PDF, or just type it: "Asphalt $4.50, Metal $9.50, Tile $12 per sq ft."
Say how it is looked up
"Look up the rate by the material the customer picks." For brackets: "Use the bracket the home size falls in." For a grid: "Material picks the row, finish picks the column."
Say what it feeds into
"Price is rate times square feet, plus the tear-off fee if they tick it."
Test two rows
Pick two entries from the table and check the total uses the right one. Brackets in particular: test a number right on the edge.
The words to say
Copy this into ChatGPT (with CalcForms added) and fill in the brackets.
"Here is my price list: [paste table]. Add it to the form and look up the rate by [material / size bracket / material and finish]. Total = rate × [quantity] + [fixed fees]. Test it with [an example] and show me the result."
What you will see
A dropdown (or a number box) for the thing that drives the price, and a total that changes when it changes. The table itself is never shown to the customer.
Common mistakes
- Overlapping brackets. "0 to 500" and "500 to 1,000" both contain 500. Say which side 500 belongs to.
- Leaving a blank cell in the grid. Give every combination a value or say what to do when one is missing.
- Updating the spreadsheet but not the form. After a price change, tell ChatGPT the new numbers; see the "change a form" guide.
