How to show customers one number and keep the rest of your math private

About 3 minutesNo codeFree ChatGPT account works

Every calculation in a CalcForms form is private unless you say otherwise. To show a number, name it: "Show the customer the total." Everything else, your margin, your cost basis, the commission, still gets calculated and lands in your dashboard, but the customer never sees it.

Step by step

  1. List what the form works out

Ask ChatGPT: "What does this form calculate?" It lists every number: subtotal, tax, total, margin, cost, and so on.

  2. Name the ones to show

"Show the customer the total and the monthly payment. Keep everything else private."

  3. Check the live form

Open the link. You should see only those numbers updating as you type. Nothing else is on the page or in its code.

  4. Check your dashboard

Submit a test reply. In your dashboard you see all the numbers, including the private ones.

The words to say

Copy this into ChatGPT (with CalcForms added) and fill in the brackets.

Say this to ChatGPT

"Show the customer only [total, monthly payment]. Keep [margin, cost basis, commission] private. Confirm which numbers are visible."

What you will see

The visible numbers appear in a small results panel on the form and update as the customer fills it in. Private numbers appear only in your dashboard and your email copy of each reply.

FAQ

Can I change my mind later?
Yes. "Also show them the deposit" or "hide the monthly payment" takes effect on the live form immediately.
Can different people see different numbers?
Private invites use the same form, so the same numbers. If two audiences need different views, build two forms from the same spreadsheet.
Where do I see the private numbers?
In your dashboard, in the email you get for each reply, and in the Excel export.
